The Launch Protocol
Zwift races don’t “ramp up”—they explode. Because there is no neutral start, the first 60 seconds are essentially a standing sprint. If you start pedaling when the clock hits zero, you are already 50 meters behind. To “Solve” the start, you have to master the Pre-Spin.
The Objective: Neutralizing the “0-km/h” surge to ensure you make the front split without blowing up your legs in the first 2 minutes.
| Phase | Duration | Target Intensity | The “Solve” |
| The Pre-Spin | T-minus 10s | 2.0 – 3.0 W/Kg | Get the flywheel moving and the sensor “awake.” |
| The Snap | T-minus 2s | 150% – 200% FTP | Ramp up so your avatar “slingshots” at 0:00. |
| The Hold | 0:00 – 1:30 | 110% – 120% FTP | Ride above threshold to clear the “churn” of the pack. |
| The Settle | 1:30+ | Draft Pace | Identify your group and drop into the “Sticky Draft.” |
