Pursuit Accord

The Accord of the Pursuit

Success in the Sub-10 Challenge™ is measured by more than just the clock; it is governed by a strict set of technical and ethical mandates. To protect the prestige of the award purse and ensure a fair and level playing field for the true ‘Citizen Athlete,’ we have established the below Pursuit Accord.

This is our baseline for integrity, eligibility, and performance verification. There are no shortcuts, no exceptions, and no compromises. By declaring your intent to break the 10-hour barrier with Ho’Omau, you are agreeing to these Standards of Excellence. Review them with precision—your journey begins with total compliance.

Understand the Rules

The Sub-10 Virgin

The “Sub-10 Virgin” rule is absolute. This challenge is exclusively for age-group athletes who have never recorded an official sub-10-hour finish in a full-distance (140.6) triathlon prior to 2027. By entering, you grant Ho’Omau permission to audit your historical data across all global timing databases.

Human Accomplishment

This is not “prize money” for winning a race; it is a Human Accomplishment Award. We reward the resilience of everyday athletes who balance families, careers, and kids with peak training. You are not competing as a pro; you are being honored for mastering the amateur lifestyle at the highest-level.

Bank the Journey

To remain eligible for awards, you must document your journey. Post an Entry Announcement and at least 1 separate “Training Proof” post showcasing your preparation or long-distance lifestyle. These must be posted prior to your target race to prove you lived the process, not just the result.

The Verification

Once you cross the line and see that “9” on the clock, the 72-hour “Claim Window” begins. You must submit the official Claim Form and provide your raw FIT files. While we trust Ironman, we utilize these to verify your performance was achieved through correct navigation.

Pro-Banned

Former or current professional athletes in swimming, cycling, running, or triathlon are ineligible. If you have ever held a pro license or competed in an elite field—even for a single event—you may not participate. This ensures a level playing field for the true “Citizen Athlete” and amateur contender.

Code of Conduct

Your official chip time must be 09:59:59 or faster. All athletes must compete in the spirit of fair play. Any anti-doping violation or Unsportsmanlike Conduct DQ will result in an immediate lifetime ban from all current and future Ho’Omau challenges. We reward epic breakthroughs, not the shortcut.

Signal the Lab

Visibility is a requirement. All qualifying social media posts must tag @hoomauendurance and utilize the #Sub10Challenge hashtag. This allows our production team to track your data and potential for the documentary series and allows us to see your journey to verify your eligibility.

Cs Rankings

Your place in the Top 20 is determined by your Challenge Score (Cs), not your raw chip time. We utilize the Course Coefficient (Cc) to normalize results across global terrain based on historical finish time data. A sub-10 is the entry ticket, but the math decides the payout.

Sanctioned Gates

Eligible efforts must occur at sanctioned, chip-timed, Ironman-branded full-distance events. If any portion of the race is shortened or cancelled (swim, bike, or run) due to weather or any other reason, the result is void. New courses with less than 3 years of historical finish data are blacklisted.

The Result is Final

Ho’Omau is not responsible for failed efforts outside of an athlete’s control. Flat tires, mechanicals, travel delays, course crashes, or drafting DQs are part of the game. We do not interpret “what should have happened.” Only the official recorded chip time is used for validation. The result is the result.

100% Completion

Your Ho’Omau Athlete Page is your digital identity across the global Ho’Omau network. It must be complete and show a blue verified checkmark, which you receive automatically upon completion. An incomplete profile on race day results in an automatic “Mechanical DNF” for challenge eligibility.

Mandatory Presence

The Sub-10 season culminates at the Santa Monica award ceremony. The Top 5 finishers will be invited to the Check Ceremony and VIP dinner. Physical attendance is mandatory for the Top 5 to receive their full payout. This is where we memorialize epic endurance achievements.
