Phoenix | The ‘Bullet’

World’s FKT: Not Set | 1st scheduled attempt: September 19, 2026

The Reputation

Fast. Quite Flat. Very Deceptive.

Mission Environment

While it lacks the urban chaos of Los Angeles, the climbing of San Diego or the distance of Reno, The Bullet offers a stark, evolving beauty. This is the only route that forces a three-state crossing. It is a 346-mile desert-to-desert sprint that demands continuous power output and a high-velocity focus.

Tactical Briefing

The Entry-Level Paradox. As the shortest route with the lowest elevation gain, it is the most accessible “entry point,” but the flat terrain is a trap—it demands a relentless, high-wattage effort with no “gravity breaks.”

The Early Velocity. Expect a fast average speed over the first 2/3 of the ride. Capitalize on the forgiving gradient, but do not burn your matches too early.

The Final Bite. The terrain betrays you at mile 250. Most of the 10.3K ft of climbing occurs during the final 1/3 of the ride. You will be climbing on scorched legs.

Logistics Advantage. This route offers significantly more refueling flexibility and rest-stop options some of the other routes on the race circuit.

The Shoulder Gap. Once you clear the Phoenix perimeter (mile 20), the roads narrow into single lanes , often with with no shoulder. Proximity to traffic becomes a primary safety variable.

Cross-Border Complexity. You are managing two state line crossings and a time zone shift – logistics that can rattle an unprepared crew.

Along the Route

The Vegas In 24 Phoenix route is scenically gorgeous in many ways, but it does not feature many notable landmarks. While it starts and ends in the desert, the route features plenty of change in scenery, including the only route to take place in 3 states and feature a Colorado River crossing.

Los Angeles | The ‘Original’

World’s FKT: 20:41:24 | April 23, 2016    Andy Funk

The Reputation

The Legend. The High-Contrast Everything Bagel.

Mission Environment

This route is a study in cinematic contrast. You begin in the neon-lit heart of one of the world’s most iconic urban landscapes, navigating the high-energy pulse of the Los Angeles sprawl. As the city lights fade, you transition into the absolute, haunting silence of the Mojave. It is a profound shift from the pinnacle of human civilization to the rawest form of nature.

Tactical Briefing

The Urban Siege. The first 80 miles are a war of attrition. You will face 75% of the route’s 357 traffic lights in the first few hours. Patience here is a tactical necessity or unnecessary nervous energy will be wasted when you cannot afford it.

The Everest Scale. With 14.8K feet of elevation gain, you are effectively climbing half of Mount Everest. If you overcook the first few climbs, fatigue will catch up with you and it’s game over.

The Rail Variable. 11 rail crossings mean you are at the mercy of the tracks. A single 1-mile freight train can derail a sub-24-hour pace by many minutes.

Navigation Load. With 41 mandatory waypoints, the cognitive load is high. Miscalculating a single turn can end a mission.

High-Speed Descent. The drop into the Palm Springs basin is notoriously windy and technical; speeds can exceed 60 mph. Elite bike handling is non-negotiable here.

The Searchlight Grind. The steady, unrelenting uphill to Searchlight is the “spirit-breaker.” It often takes longer than projected and demands a disciplined final fueling strategy.

Along the Route

Despite the nonstop lights and noise of the first 80 miles, this route is absolutely spectacular and full of changing scenery. Could there be any bigger contrast than going from 5 hours of one of the biggest urban environments to the absolute nothingness of the desert? This route delivers it.

San Diego | The ‘Skyway’

World’s FKT: Not Set | 1st scheduled attempt: 2027

The Reputation

The Vertical Nightmare.

Mission Environment

The ‘Skyway’ is the most cinematic route on the entire circuit, offering everything from urban environments, ocean vistas, seaside cliffs, vineyards and forests to high-mountain passes and desert flats. With 400 miles to conquer, it is absolutely visually stunning and just as much physically punishing.

Tactical Briefing

The Vertical Wall. With nearly 20,000 feet of elevation gain, the ‘Skyway’ is the undisputed climbing heavyweight of the Vegas In 24 circuit.

Pacing or Failure. As the second-longest route, your rest-stop strategy and power-zone management are your only survival mechanisms. You can’t power through the climbs, and yet you can’t afford not to.

The Technical Drop. At Mile 122, you will navigate a high-speed, technical descent into the Coachella Valley. Nighttime attempts here require extreme caution.

Cognitive Endurance. You must track 49 tactical turns—more than any other route. Mental fatigue will make this your hardest task.

The Heritage Path. Parts of this route share the same tarmac with the legendary Ironman 70.3 Oceanside and RAAM (Race Across America).

The Merge. Once you hit the Palm Springs basin at 29 Palms Hwy, the ‘Skyway’ merges with the ‘Original’ Los Angeles route, inheriting its desert challenges for the final push to Vegas.

Along the Route

No matter where you look, both natural and man-made landmarks on the San Diego route are plentiful, providing for a constant change of scenery from the second you start pedaling, providing a diverse and immensely enjoyable riding experience.

Reno | The ‘Titan’

World’s FKT: Not Set | 1st scheduled attempt: 2026

The Reputation

The Psychological Abyss.

Mission Environment

The ‘Titan’ is the longest mission, staying entirely within the Nevada border. It is a vast, high-altitude 448-mile odyssey through the “Big Empty.” Scenic beauty is vast, while scenic variety is low. The psychological tax and risk of zoning out are high.

Current Conditions

Tactical Briefing

The Velocity Threshold. You must maintain a minimum average speed of 18.7 mph (excluding stops) to clear the 24-hour cutoff. This is a “Hammer-Down” route.

The Thin Air. 310 of the 448 miles occur above 4,000 feet. The altitude will sap your recovery and affect your heart rate zones throughout the ride.

The Net Negative Trap. While it is technically a “net negative” elevation route, the grades almost never exceed 2%. This means there are no “free” descents—you must pedal every single mile.

The Zero-Civilization Factor. This is the most deserted path of the circuit. Logistics and fueling are “all-or-nothing” here. There is no solution if you miss a stop.

The Northern Strategy. As the only route that approaches Vegas from the North, this can offer unique, favorable wind patterns if timed correctly.

Zoning Out. The primary danger of the ‘Titan’ is “Highway Hypnosis.” The lack of landmarks and the monotonous horizon will try to lull you into a sub-threshold pace.

Along the Route

More landmarks than you might expect from an almost deserted route through the desert. Despite the vast emptiness between Reno and Las Vegas, many beautiful areas do emerge as time passes along the ride. It is the only route to remain entirely within the State of Nevada.
